KADPOLY Unbundles Mass Communication Department Into Three Specialized Programmes

KADPOLY Unbundles Mass Communication Department Into Three Specialized Programmes

By Kadpoly Digest

The Mass Communication Department of Kaduna Polytechnic (KADPOLY) has officially been unbundled into three distinct academic programmes, following the nationwide restructuring directive by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

This change is aimed at improving specialization, strengthening professional training, and providing students with deeper expertise in their chosen communication field.

✅ The Three New Programmes Are:

1. Journalism and Media Studies

Focused on news writing, reporting, broadcasting, multimedia storytelling, and emerging digital journalism practices.

2. Media and Strategic Communication

Designed for students interested in public relations, advertising, corporate communication, branding, and digital campaigns.

3. Film Production

A fully specialized programme covering cinematography, directing, editing, screenwriting, sound, and modern film-making techniques.

🎯 Why the Unbundling Matters

The restructuring allows students to gain industry-specific skills rather than a general Mass Communication certificate. This gives graduates a strong advantage in the competitive media and creative industries.

KADPOLY becomes one of the leading polytechnics in Northern Nigeria to successfully implement this new communication structure, reinforcing its commitment to modern, industry-driven education.

📌 What Students Should Expect

More practical-oriented training

Updated curriculum aligned with global media trends

Increased opportunities for specialization

Better internship placement and career pathways
